Find a STD Testing Center

The thought that you might have a Sexually Transmited Disease (STD) can be scary. There is simply no getting around that. However, you owe it to yourself and anyone who you're intimate with to use that fear as a motivator to go ahead and get tested for any STDs that you think you may have. Confidential Anonymous STD Testing is available in STD Testing centers.

Getting tested for STDs is simpler than it has ever been before thanks to the rise of a variety of different testing centers in different settings. You can obviously get tested through your own health care provider, but there's a good chance that you'll want to have more confidentiality than that.

In addition to the fact that you have an ongoing relationship with your health care provider and having anyone who knows you also know about any tests that you need done for STDs can be embarrassing, there is also the insurance situation.

Any STD test that is done through your normal health care provider will end up on your medical records and those records will probably end up in the hands of your insurance company at some point!

If your insurance company knows that you've been tested for an STD, it can only mean trouble. This can be the case even if you test negative. In fact, in some ways it's more likely to be the case if you test negative!

If you test positive for an STD, your insurance company will probably be obligated to cover any treatments that you need in order to deal with the STD. However, if you test negative- or if it turns out that you have a disease that can be cleared up through antibiotics- then your insurance company will assume that because you had or thought you might have an STD you engage in risky behavior.

After all, STDs are commonly associated with promiscuous sex and or drug use. Some can also be contracted through dirty tattooing or body piercing needles. Because of the stigma attached to these kinds of behavior, your insurance company will assume that you might cost them more money later and raise your rates.

They might also decide to drop you completely from their coverage! For these reasons, it's best to find out about, and preferably treat, any STDs in an anonymous way or with as much subtlety as possible.

How you get tested and deal with any possible STDs will be determined to some extent by what kind of STD you have. There are two major categories of STDs: viral and bacterial.

Viral STDs are caused by viruses and while they are treatable, with the exception of some cases of hepatitis, they will probably never completely clear up and you'll have to manage them for the rest of your life.

Viral STDs include herpes, AIDS (which is actually caused by HIV), several forms of hepatitis, and HPV. With the exception of the variety of hepatitis and HPV that can clear up with time, you'll probably need the help of your insurance company to deal with these viral diseases, but it's best to go to a dedicated STD testing center to make sure that you actually have one of these chronic illnesses before you alert your insurance company!

Bacterial STDs such as gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia can generally be cleared up completely with a round of antibiotics. Because of the fact that these are curable, it's a good idea to maintain as much confidentiality as possible while dealing with them.

The important thing to remember is that if you think you might have an STD, you should get checked out as soon as possible both for your own health and for the sake of the health of your loved ones. Anonymous Confidential STD Testing is available in many areas of the USA.
